ARGUS vs WYVERN: Ratings Are Not the Whole Trip Check
Operator credentials and flight-specific review answer different questions. Check who will operate the flight, what authority applies, and whether the proposed aircraft and crew have been reviewed. A rating is not a regulatory authorization or a guarantee of safety.

Start with the operator's authority
For typical US on-demand private-jet charter, ask about Part 135 authority. Some other charter operations fall under Part 121 or other applicable authority. Identify the legal operating company and confirm the proposed aircraft is authorized for the operation; a broker's name or a directory badge is not a substitute for those checks.
ARGUS: confirm the current rating and its scope
ARGUS offers operator-level ratings and a separate TripCHEQ flight-review product. Its published programs include Gold Certified, Platinum and Platinum Elite; ARGUS identifies Platinum Elite as its highest rating. Do not rely on an old logo or a fixed tier list: confirm the exact current status, scope and date with ARGUS for the named operator.
Program labels and requirements evolve. ARGUS's 2026 announcement describes a transition from legacy Gold to Gold Certified. That is not evidence that every older rating remains current, nor a reason to assume an operator holds a particular level. Ask the issuer to resolve an unclear certificate or rating claim.
WYVERN: operator certification is separate from PASS
WYVERN's Wingman operator certification evaluates organizational systems and risk management; its standard also describes Wingman PRO. Operator certification is separate from the Pilot and Aircraft Safety Survey (PASS). The March 2026 standard says an operator's aircraft and pilots need not meet Wingman PASS requirements to obtain operator certification.
For a flight requested as Wingman compliant, ask for the successful Wingman PASS for that flight. Confirm which PASS standard was used, the actual aircraft and crew, and when the report was produced. A general Wingman certificate is not evidence that your proposed flight has a successful PASS.
Keep the trip report tied to the proposal
ARGUS TripCHEQ and WYVERN PASS are distinct products, not interchangeable labels. Ask the operator or broker what report is available and what it actually checks. Keep its date and identifiers beside the proposal; if the aircraft, crew or itinerary changes, request confirmation of whether a fresh review is needed. These checks inform a decision, not a promise that a flight is risk-free.
